"The Ties That Bind" is a Community Collaborative Art and Story project created by eco-artist and poet Amelia L. Williams. The project involves over 100 fabric braids created by community groups and individuals across Virginia to demonstrate their opposition to and messages about the unnatural gas pipelines proposed for our state. The braids are all joined together into one long strand that winds through and around structures symbolizing the different terrains and communities that would be, or already are being devastated. The braids demonstrate how our communities are bound together in our desire to protect our families, health, air, water, forests, and planet.
